Meta is back with another upadate! The company is rolling a new feature that will allow users connect their WhatsApp account to Meta’s Accounts Center.
Meta launched the Accounts Centre back in 2020. The Accounts Center works as a unified platform, aiming to integrate all of Meta’s apps into a single location.
The main purpose of Accounts Center is to allow users to login to multiple platforms with Single Sign-On. Instead of switching between different apps, content can be easily shared across all platforms in one go. Additionally, content recommendations and suggested people to interact with or follow are tailored based on personal user interests, ensuring consistency across platforms. Users can also manage their settings and payment details in one centralized location.
Meta says that with this integration, users can cross-post their WhatsApp status as Instagram and Facebook stories. This feature will save users time and effort by eliminating the need to visit each app individually.
Meta has clarified that this integration is completely optional. WhatApp accounts remain separate from Meta’s other app, and it is up to the user to decide whether to keep their account separate or integrate it with the Accounts Center.
Meta further said, Over time we are introducing new features that work across all of Meta’s apps. These features are optional, and some users may adopt them. All updates are clearly explained within the apps, empowering users to make the choice that best suits their needs.
WhatsApp is best known for it’s end-to-end encrypted messages and calls. Meta has explained that adding your WhatsApp account to Accounts centre does not change this encryption.
